Pricing & billing
Flat monthly tiers with a hard document cap. One document is one document — no credits to decode, no per-page multipliers, no surprise overages. Here is exactly how it works.

Hard cap — no overage charges, ever.
Starter
500 documents / month
Hard cap — no overage charges, ever.
Pro
2,000 documents / month
Hard cap — no overage charges, ever.
Scale
10,000 documents / month
Hard cap — no overage charges, ever.
How the plan works
- One document = one count. A render is a render, regardless of page count — there are no credits and no per-page math.
- Hard cap, no overage. At your monthly cap, renders return
QUOTA_EXCEEDED(HTTP 402) with a clear upgrade prompt. Nothing silently keeps charging you — a cap is a stop, not a surprise invoice. - Prices are on this page. No sales call, no hidden fees. Annual billing is two months free.
- The meter is the source of truth. The usage number in your dashboard is the exact number the cap is enforced against — one value from one place, so it can never quietly diverge.
Usage reset vs. billing renewal
These are two different dates, on purpose, and we show both plainly:
- Your usage counter resets at the start of each calendar month (UTC) — the
YYYY-MMperiod. On the 1st, used-this-month returns to zero. - Your Stripe subscription renews on its own anniversary date (when you subscribed), which is what the “renews on” date on the billing page reflects.
So a mid-month upgrade bills from your subscription date, while the document allowance is a fresh calendar-month bucket. We state both dates rather than blur them.
If a payment fails
Card declines happen. When a renewal payment fails, pdfmill does the honest thing instead of a silent lockout or a silent overage:
- Your plan and its cap stay active during Stripe's automatic retry window (the grace period), and the billing page shows a clear “your last payment failed — update your card” banner linking to the portal.
- Update your card and the plan is restored automatically the moment the payment succeeds — no support ticket, no manual step.
- If the retries are exhausted, the workspace drops to Free with its Free cap — a clear downgrade, never a surprise bill.
Changing or cancelling your plan
Upgrade, downgrade, and cancel all happen in the Stripe customer portal — the same two clicks either way. Cancelling is exactly as easy as upgrading: no retention maze, no confirm-shaming, no pre-checked add-ons. Cancelling keeps your access through the period you already paid for.
